Week 5

Five weeks of action have come and gone in high school football. We are now half way through the season and the playoffs will be here before we know it. Most teams took a week off from region play to flex their muscles against other competition. Here are some interesting facts from this week's games.

   *  Dadeville with 23 and Tanner with 22 currently hold on to the top spots for consecutive games won on their home turf. Dadeville defeated Tallassee 42-34 while Tanner shutout R.A. Hubbard 48-0 on Friday night.

   *  Dadeville and Tanner also continue to share the lead with thirty-one game regular season game winning streaks. Maplesville lost to Sweet Water to relinquish the third spot.

   *  Jackson takes over sole possession of the lead with consecutive wins to lead all Alabama high school football teams. They defeated Foley 21-13 and have won twenty games in a row. Hartselle was tied for the lead last week but fell 21-14 to Decatur on Friday night.

   *   Central Hayneville continues to top our list with forty-six consecutive losses after a 26-47 loss to Montgomery Academy.

   *   Cold Springs lost to non-region foe Lynn 21-0 and have lost thirty-five straight region games. They will have a good shot at ending the streak next week when they entertain Francis Marion in a region game.

   *   The T.R. Miller Tigers defeated Clarke County 19-7 and have scored in 322 consecutive games.

   *  Elba has lost two games this season but fortunately they were non-region games. They have won their three region games and lead the AHSAA with a streak of twenty-six consecutive region wins. Monroe Academy has won twenty-seven in a row in AISA. Other notables in AHSAA include.... Tanner (24), Dadeville (21), Maplesville (20) and Piedmont (20).
