Week 10

The 2012 regular season is complete for half the teams in the state. The other half will move on in their search for a state championship next week when the playoffs begin. Here are some interesting facts from this week's games.

  
   *   Dadeville with 25 and Tanner with 24 currently hold on to the top spots for consecutive games won on their home turf. Tanner had an open date while Dadeville defeated Russell County 35-27 on Friday. The win by Dadeville was on the road so it will not effect their streak.

   *   Tanner maintains sole possession of first place with a thirty-five game regular season winning streak following the off week.

   *   Jackson lost to Thomasville 31-21 to stop their winning streak at twenty-four games in a row. Now all the teams that are 10-0 for the 2012 season are all tied for the lead. These teams are - Brantley, Fyffe, Piedmont, Hamilton, Daleville, Oneonta, Muscle Shoals, Ft. Payne, McAdory, Hoover and McGill-Toolen.

   *   Central Hayneville continues to top our list with fifty consecutive losses after a 63-20 loss to Flomaton.

   *   Central Hayneville also has a streak of thirty-seven consecutive region losses dating back to 2007.

   *   In a battle of south Alabama powers, T.R. Miller Tigers edged Sweet Water 28-27 and have scored in 327 consecutive games.

   *   Tanner also holds the state lead with a streak of twenty-seven consecutive region wins. Monroe Academy has won twenty-nine in a row in AISA. Other notables in AHSAA include.... Maplesville (24) and Piedmont (24).

   *   Muscle Shoals has started the 2012 season with ten consecutive wins which is a first in the history of the school.



Note: The new schools will not be included in team records because of the obvious reasons.

* Lee Huntsville set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Butler 80-0.
* Brewer set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Priceville 54-49.
* St. Lukes set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Cottage Hill Christian 56-21.
* W.S. Neal set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Millry 66-20.
* Wilson set a team record for points scored in a game by defeating Elkmont 63-20.


Points allowed in a game

* Butler set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Lee Huntsville 0-80.
* Central Clay County set a team record for points allowed in a game by losing to Madison Academy 7-33.


Margin of Victory game

* Lee Huntsville set a team record for margin of victory by defeating Butler 80-0.


Margin of Defeat game

* Butler set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Lee Huntsville 0-80.
* Central Clay County set a team record for margin of defeat in a game by losing to Madison Academy 7-33.


Points Scored by Both Teams in a Game

* Colbert County set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Brooks 49-55.
* Northview set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to Prattville 36-57.
* Prattville set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Northview 57-36.
* Brewer set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Priceville 54-49.
* Brooks set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Colbert County 55-49.
* Springville set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by losing to St. Clair County 42-58.
* St. Clair County set a team record for points scored by both teams in a game by defeating Springville 58-42.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
