 2023 Preview

Northside completed the 2022 season with a 8-3 record. With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 4A region five, the Rams earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Northside's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Etowah by a score of 42-21.

Since 2010, Northside has gone a combined 93-51. Their 64.6% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Northside has managed to compile a record of 118-146. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 38th in Class 4A and 232nd in the AHSAA.

The Rams are led by head coach Robbie Jones who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 8-3 record in his first season at Northside. Under his direction the Rams have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Jones.

The Rams should be in contention for a playoff spot in region five this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2016 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2023.

The Rams open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Hale County on Friday, August 25 at Northside Stadium. Last year the Hale County Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 4A region three. The Wildcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Gordo by a score of 39-0.

Northside and Hale County have met a total of 49 times on the football field. The Rams have a 19-30-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2022 with Northside winning by a score of 35-0.
