 2022 Preview 


       Holtville completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region four, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Holtville's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Pike Road by a score of 37-0.

       Holtville took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2017. The Bulldogs last playoff victory came during the 1993 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

       Holtville was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Bulldogs want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.3 points a game.

       Since 2010, the Holtville football program has struggled with a record of 39-86.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Holtville has not won much with a record of 84-175. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 51st in Class 5A and 342nd in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Jason Franklin who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 27-27 over the past five seasons at Holtville. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Franklin.

       Coach Franklin's overall record as a head football coach in fourteen season stands at 61-86 (41.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Franklin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of seven times .

       The Holtville Bulldogs will play in Class 5A region three during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 5A but move from region four over to region three.

       The Bulldogs will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region three this season.

       The Bulldogs open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Fultondale on Friday, August 19 at Boykin-Chapman Field. Last year the Fultondale Wildcats finished with an overall record of 1-8 and in sixth place in Class 4A region six.
