 2022 Preview 


       Decatur Heritage Christian completed the 2021 season with a 10-3 record. Last year Decatur Heritage Christian captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 1A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. Decatur Heritage Christian lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Pickens County team by a score of 60-46.

       The 559 points scored by the Eagles last year were a team record in a single season.

       The high-scoring Decatur Heritage Christian offense ranked 8th in the AHSAA. They averaged 43.0 points a game.

       Since 2010, Decatur Heritage Christian has gone a combined 87-49. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 12 seasons, Decatur Heritage Christian has managed to compile a record of 87-49. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 11th in Class 1A and 69th in the AHSAA.




       The Eagles will be under the direction of new head football coach Nikita Stover as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Stover served on the staff at Decatur Heritage Middle School last season.

       The Decatur Heritage Christian Eagles will play in Class 1A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Eagles remain in 1A but move from region eight over to region seven.

       The Eagles enter the 2022 season riding a 8 game regular season winning streak. Decatur Heritage Christian has won 7 consecutive region games.

       The Eagles should be considered one of the favorites for the region seven championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Eagles have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Eagles open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Section on Friday, August 19 at Section Stadium. Last year the Section Lions finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 2A region seven. The Lions ended last season on a positive note with a win over Woodville by a score of 53-6 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Decatur Heritage Christian and Section have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 2-0-0 record against the Lions. They last met in with
