 2018 Preview 


       Cullman completed the 2017 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region seven, the Bearcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2017. Cullman's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Ramsay by a score of 14-0.

       Since 2010, Cullman has gone a combined 58-34. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 6A over the past eight seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Cullman has managed to compile a record of 181-93. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 6A and 54th in the AHSAA. The Bearcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-two winning seasons during this time. Their last losing season was 1996.




       The Bearcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Matt Plunkett as they enter the 2018 season.

       Coach Plunkett's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 37-22 (62.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Plunkett's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

       The Cullman Bearcats will play in Class 6A region seven during the 2018 season.

       The Bearcats should be in contention for a playoff spot in region seven this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Bearcats open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Jasper on Thursday, August 23 at Woodard Stadium. Last year the Jasper Vikings finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 6A region six. The Vikings closed out the regular season with a loss to Dora by a score of 30-7.
