Asbury finished the 2016 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Asbury finished eighth in Class 2A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The Rams suffered through the first losing season in the school's history in 2016. The 66 points scored by the Rams last year were a team record in a single season. The defense allowed a team record 464 points last season. The Rams have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Rams have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2017. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Asbury averaged scoring just 6.6 points a game. The Rams also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 46.4 points a game. The Rams would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 0-10 record. Asbury is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only one seasons. They have managed a record of 0-10 over the past one years. The Rams are led by head coach Jeff Powell who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Asbury. The Rams have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Powell. The Asbury Rams will play in Class 2A region six during the 2017 season. The Rams enter the 2017 season in the middle of a 10 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Rams will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Asbury will be to simply win some games. The Rams open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Woodville on Friday, September 1. Last year the Woodville Panthers finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in third place in Class 1A region six. The Panthers lost in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs to Hubbertville by a score of 47-15. Asbury and Woodville have met a total of 4 times on the football field.
