 2016 Preview

Trinity completed the 2015 season with a 8-4 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 4A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Trinity reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to UMS-Wright by a score of 49-14.

Since 2010, Trinity has gone a combined 47-23. Their 67.0% winning percentage ranks 14th in Class 4A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Trinity has gone a combined 224-75. Their 75.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 4A and 12th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats have been successful on the football field with twenty-four winning seasons during this time.

The Wildcats are led by head coach Randy Ragsdale who is entering his twenty-eighth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 239-79 over the past twenty-seven seasons at Trinity. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of twenty-five times. They have won eleven region crowns with Coach Ragsdale. Coach Ragsdale led Trinity to a state championship in 2003.

Coach Ragsdale's overall record as a head football coach in twenty-seven season stands at 239-79 (75.2%). His 239 wins rank 7th among active coaches in the AHSAA.

The Trinity Wildcats will play in Class 4A region two during the 2016 season.

Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier.

The Wildcats enter the 2016 season having won 6 straight region games. They have won 8 straight games on their home turf at Boykin Field. The Wildcats should be considered one of the favorites for the region two championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Wildcats have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 1998 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

Quarterback Charlie Trotman returns for his senior season after completing 122 of 216 passes for 1,706 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior last season.

The Wildcats open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Jacksonville on Friday, August 19 at Boykin Field. Last year the Jacksonville Golden Eagles finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region six. The Golden Eagles lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Brooks by a score of 35-21.

Trinity and Jacksonville have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 1-1-0 record against the Golden Eagles. They last met in with
