 2016 Preview

Ranburne completed the 2015 season with a 10-2 record. With their 5-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 2A region five, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Ranburne lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Fyffe team by a score of 24-20.

Over the past two seasons the Bulldogs have gone 22-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Ranburne has gone a combined 47-20. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Ranburne has managed to compile a record of 140-115. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 2A and 137th in the AHSAA.

Chad Young leaves Ranburne after seventeen seasons leading the football program. His last three teams had one of the best runs in the schools history with a 32-5 record.

His overall record at leading the program stands at 101-80.

Stephen Bailey has taken over as the head coach after being an assistant coach for Young the past five seasons. Before coming to Ranburne he coached eight seasons at Woodland under Larry Strain. Bailey will be just the third football coach at Ranburne in the last 50 years.

The Ranburne Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region five during the 2016 season.

The Bulldogs enter the 2016 season riding a 7 game regular season winning streak. They have won 13 straight games on their home turf at Ranburne Stadium.

The Bulldogs should be considered one of the favorites for the region five championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bulldogs open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Mount Zion GA on Friday, August 26 at Ranburne Stadium.

Ranburne and Mount Zion GA have met a total of 41 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 31-9-1 record against Mount Zion GA. They last met in 2013 with Ranburne winning by a score of 20-12.

Ranburne returns 2A All-State Senior kicker Jake Howle. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Bulldogs also return Senior offensive lineman Riley Smith. He was named to the second team.
