 2016 Preview 


       Jackson Academy completed the 2015 season with a 7-5 record. With their 4-2 region record and a second place finish in Class A region one, the Eagles earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Last year Jackson Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Abbeville Christian team by the score of 45-20.

       The Eagles improved in 2015 with their first winning season since 2011.

       Since 2010, Jackson Academy has gone a combined 35-35. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Jackson Academy has managed to compile a record of 109-154. Their 41.0% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA and 32nd in the AISA.

After only one season at the helm at Jackson Academy, Bill McNair stepped down as the head football coach. His team finished 7-5 losing in the second round of the playoffs. Coach McNair has been a head coach twenty-four seasons with an overall record of 188-75.


Jacob Webb arrives at Jackson Academy from nearby Fruitdale where he led the Pirates to a combined 19-24 record in fours seasons as the head football coach.



       Coach Webb's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 19-24 (44.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Webb's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times and won one region championship.

       The Jackson Academy Eagles will play in Class AA region two during the 2016 season. The Eagles move up in classification to Class AA. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Eagles will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region two this season.

       The Eagles open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Crenshaw Christian on Friday, August 19 at McCorquodale Stadium. Last year the Crenshaw Christian Cougars finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in third place in Class A region two. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Jackson Academy by a score of 50-0.

       Jackson Academy and Crenshaw Christian have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 10-7-0 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2015 with Jackson Academy winning by a score of 50-0.

  


Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
