2016 Preview | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Lakeside completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. Since 2010, Lakeside has gone a combined 32-32. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class AA over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Lakeside has managed to compile a record of 105-147. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AA and 30th in the AISA. Lakeside will be in search of their eighth football coach since 2000 after Keith Jones was not retained by the school. Coach Jones only team at Lakeside went 5-5 and failed to reach the AISA playoffs. He also served as the Athletic Director at the school. Phil Anderson returns as the head football coach and athletic director at Lakeside after serving as the head coach for three seasons in 2012-2014. His previous stint with the program led to a 19-15 record. Coach Anderson's overall record as a head football coach in three season stands at 19-15 (55.9%). The Lakeside Chiefs will play in Class AA region one during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Chiefs remain in AA but move from region two over to region one. Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier. The Chiefs should be in contention for a playoff spot in region one this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. Lakeside missed the playoffs last year but have expectations of a return to the post season this year. The Chiefs open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Crenshaw Christian on Friday, August 26 at Cougar Stadium. Last year the Crenshaw Christian Cougars finished with an overall record of 3-8 and in third place in Class A region two. The Cougars lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Jackson Academy by a score of 50-0. Lakeside and Crenshaw Christian have met a total of 25 times on the football field. The Chiefs have a 5-19-1 record against the Cougars. They last met in 2015 with Lakeside winning by a score of 49-0. College prospects include: Josh Culpepper (6-4, 285) offensive tackle, | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
