 2016 Preview

Carver finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Carver just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 6A region two with a 3-4 region record.

Carver took a step backwards last year with their first losing season since 2007. The Wolverines lost as many games as in any season since 2002. The Wolverines hope to rebound after a down year. Last season they struggled winning just three games which followed a 9-3 record in 2014.

Since 2010, Carver has gone a combined 49-23. Their 68.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

Over the past 25 seasons, Carver has managed to compile a record of 141-140. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 29th in Class 6A and 187th in the AHSAA.

The Wolverines are led by head coach Billy Gresham who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 41-19 over the past five seasons at Carver. Under his direction the Wolverines have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Gresham.

Coach Gresham's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 41-19 (68.3%).

The Carver Wolverines will play in Class 6A region two during the 2016 season.

With a little luck and some improvement, the Wolverines could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Carver came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

Running back Justin Lewis returns for his junior season after rushing for 693 yards last year.

The Wolverines open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Auburn on Thursday, August 18 at Duck Samford Stadium. Last year the Auburn Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in second place in Class 7A region two. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 7A playoffs to McGill-Toolen by a score of 42-3.

Carver and Auburn have met a total of 17 times on the football field. The Wolverines have a 6-11-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2013 with Auburn winning by a score of 42-35.

College prospects include: Stanley Talley (6-2, 250) defensive end,
