 2016 Preview 


       With their 5-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region 7, the Bears earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Plainview's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Oakman by a score of 37-19.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Plainview has gone a combined 43-24. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 15th in Class 3A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Plainview has gone a combined 207-89. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class 3A and 29th in the AHSAA.

       The Bears are led by head coach Dustin Goodwin who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-5 record in his first season at Plainview. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Goodwin.

       Coach Goodwin's overall record as a head football coach in one seasons stands at 6-5 (54.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Goodwin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

      

      The Plainview Bears will play in Class 3A region 7 during the 2016 season.

       The Bears should be considered one of the favorites for the Region 7 championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Bears open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Sardis on Friday, August 19 at Lions Stadium. Last year the Sardis Lions finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fifth place in Class 4A region 6. The ended last season on a positive note with a win over Boaz by a score of 36-20 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Plainview and Sardis have met a total of 22 times on the football field. The Bears have a 18-4-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2016 with Plainview winning by a score of 20-6.
