 2016 Preview 


       Last year Leroy finished fifth in Class 2A region 1 with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Leroy has gone a combined 40-31. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Leroy has gone a combined 229-89. Their 72.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 2A and 21st in the AHSAA.

       The Bears are led by head coach Jason Massey who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 17-16 over the past three seasons at Leroy. Under his direction the Bears have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Massey.

       Coach Massey's overall record as a head football coach in five seasons stands at 27-27 (50.0%). Over the course of his career, Coach Massey's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times .

      

      The Leroy Bears will play in Class 2A region 1 during the 2016 season.

       The Bears should contend for a playoff spot in Region 1 this season.

       The Bears open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Satsuma on Friday, August 26 at Bobby Farish Field at Palmer Stadium. Last year the Satsuma Gators finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 4A region 1. The ended last season on a positive note with a win over Chickasaw by a score of 27-0 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Leroy and Satsuma have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Bears have a 3-1-0 record against the Gators. They last met in 2016 with Leroy winning by a score of 26-20.
