 2016 Preview 


       With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 6A region 8, the Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Hartselle's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Gardendale by a score of 38-14.

       Averaging over ten wins a season since 2010, Hartselle has gone a combined 57-18. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class 6A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Hartselle has managed to compile a record of 194-100. Their 66.0% winning percentage ranks 10th in Class 6A and 47th in the AHSAA.

       The Tigers are led by head coach Robert Godsey who is entering his thirteenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 115-43 over the past thirteen seasons at Hartselle. Under his direction the Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of twelve times. They have won four region crowns with Coach Godsey.

       Coach Godsey's overall record as a head football coach in eighteen seasons stands at 157-58 (73.0%). His 157 wins rank 16th among active coaches in the AHSAA. Over the course of his career, Coach Godsey's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won five region championships.

      

      The Hartselle Tigers will play in Class 6A region 8 during the 2016 season.

       The Tigers have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 8 this season.

       The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Cullman on Friday, August 19 at J.P. Cain Stadium. Last year the Cullman Bearcats finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 6A region 8. The Bearcats lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Clay-Chalkville by a score of 48-14.

       Hartselle and Cullman have met a total of 102 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 51-47-4 record against the Bearcats. They last met in 2023 with Hartselle winning by a score of 42-0.
