 2016 Preview 


       With their 3-3 region record and a third place finish in Class 2A region 7, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Gaston's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Ranburne by a score of 35-7.

       Since 2010, Gaston has gone a combined 33-32. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 26th in Class 2A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Gaston has managed to compile a record of 131-141. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 2A and 209th in the AHSAA.

       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Swane Morris who is entering his twelveth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 92-49 over the past twelve seasons at Gaston. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Morris.

       Coach Morris's overall record as a head football coach in fifteen seasons stands at 97-74 (56.7%). Over the course of his career, Coach Morris's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of eleven times and won two region championships.

      

      The Gaston Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region 6 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Bulldogs remain in 2A but move from region 7 over to region 6.

       The Bulldogs have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 6 this season.

       The Bulldogs open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Darlington GA on Friday, August 19 at Bulldogs Field.

       Gaston and Darlington GA have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 0-2-0 record against Darlington GA. They last met in 2016 with Darlington GA winning by a score of 51-0.
