Last year Fairfield finished fifth in Class 5A region 5 with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Since 2010, Fairfield has gone a combined 38-24. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 5A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fairfield has managed to compile a record of 128-139. Their 48.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 5A and 207th in the AHSAA. The Tigers are led by head coach L.C. Cole who is entering his first season at the helm. His team finished with a 6-4 record in his first season at Fairfield. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cole. Coach Cole's overall record as a head football coach in five seasons stands at 19-33 (36.5%). Over the course of his career, Coach Cole's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times . The Fairfield Tigers will play in Class 5A region 5 during the 2016 season. The Tigers have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 5 this season. The Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Central Phenix City on Friday, August 26 at Clements Field. Last year the Central Phenix City Red Devils finished with an overall record of 9-4 and in first place in Class 7A region 2. The Red Devils lost in the semi-finals round of the Class 7A playoffs to McGill-Toolen by a score of 26-21. Fairfield and Central Phenix City have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-2-0 record against the Red Devils. They last met in 2016 with Central Phenix City winning by a score of 36-0. Fairfield returns 5A All-State Senior running back Valadin Spencer.
