 2016 Preview 


       With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 5A region 4, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Dallas County's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Greenville by a score of 42-15.

       Since 2010, Dallas County has gone a combined 16-45. Their 26.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 5A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Dallas County has managed to compile a record of 110-154. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 5A and 261st in the AHSAA.

       The Hornets are led by head coach Marty Smith who is entering his second season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 9-12 over the past two seasons at Dallas County. Under his direction the Hornets have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith.

       Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in four seasons stands at 18-23 (43.9%). Over the course of his career, Coach Smith's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of one time .

      

      The Dallas County Hornets will play in Class 5A region 3 during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Hornets remain in 5A but move from region 4 over to region 3.

       The Hornets have a good chance to earn one of the playoff slots for Region 3 this season.

       The Hornets open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent McAdory on Friday, August 26 at McAdory Stadium. Last year the McAdory Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 10-2 and in first place in Class 6A region 4. The Yellow Jackets lost in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs to Benjamin Russell by a score of 34-3.

       Dallas County and McAdory have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 0-6-0 record against the Yellow Jackets. They last met in 2018 with McAdory winning by a score of 20-0.

       Dallas County returns 5A All-State Senior offensive lineman Paul Daniels. He was named to the second team last season. The Hornets also return Senior defensive back Quincy Parker. He was named to the first team.

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
