OSteen was named All-County, All-State, All-Southern and honorable mention on All-American team. His other sports included basketball, baseball and track. Gary played three seasons on the varsity football team at Anniston. He attempted 23 passes and completed 13 for 266 yards. He rushed for 1,077 yards and averaged 9 yards per carry. He returned kicks for another 456 yards as a senior.
Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
