 High School Bio:

            Gowdy passed for 2,234 yards and 17 touchdowns while leading Central Tuscaloosa to a spot in the Class 6A state championship game. He also rushed for 1,772 yards and 27 touchdowns as a tailback in the Notre Dame offense for the Falcons.

Foley outscored their opponents 433-6 in 1961. The Lions were named state champions by the Alabama Sports Writers Association that season.
