            Played quarterback and free safety at Bridgeport. He also played baseball, basketball and participated in track. He was named Jackson County Player of the Year, All-County three years, All-Sequatchie Valley Conference three years and All-State by the Montgomery Advertiser.

Foley outscored their opponents 433-6 in 1961. The Lions were named state champions by the Alabama Sports Writers Association that season.
