            Played center and tackle on varsity team for 3 years and was captain. Earned All-State, All-Metro, and All-City Interior Lineman, Most Valuable Player on team at Woodlawn, Most Valuable Defensive Player at High School. Player of the Week. Averaged 11 tackles per game.

Foley outscored their opponents 433-6 in 1961. The Lions were named state champions by the Alabama Sports Writers Association that season.
