            Marler was All-County three years, All-State and All-Conference two years, honorable mention All-America one year; Also participated in baseball, basketball and track; Played four years varsity football; captained squad and called "one of finest leaders" by coach; Scored 15 touchdowns.





Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
