2026 Coaching Changes

2026 Head Football Coaching Changes

Pike County

Mark Hurt leaves Pike County after four seasons with a respectable 21-19 record. His tenure started out with an 8-4 season and the Bulldogs making the third round of the playoffs before falling to Mobile Christian. A couple of 4-5 seasons followed with a break even 5-5 this past year.

It's been twenty years since the Bulldogs won three state championships in four years under Coach Wayne Grant. Since then Pike County has been a regular participant in the playoffs but have failed to get back those glory days.

2026 Season

Ed Rigby coaching career began in Louisiana, where he served as an assistant coach at Independence High, Northwest Rankin High and Mendenhall High. He then moved on to become the head coach at Albany High School, where he led the team to a school record for wins in a season and a playoff berth.

Rigby landed in Alabama in 2013 at Elba where his 2015 squad won a state championship. Other stops included Eufaula, Pike Road, Luverne and Elba the past two seasons.
