2026 Head Football Coaching Changes

Oneonta

Phil Phillips exits Oneonta after eight seasons. His teams found success the first six seasons but failed to qualify for the playoffs the last two years. In 2021 the Redskins reached the 4A state championship game before falling to Vigor 52-14.

Oneonta has long been one of the best football programs in the state amassing 733 wins which ranks second in the state all time. They have also won four playoff state championships. Coach Phillip's 63 wins rank fourth at Oneonta.

2026 Season

Jake Helveston spent the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator at Clay-Chalkville where he put together one of the most impressive defensive units in the state in 2025. Oneonta will be his first head coaching job. Prior to arriving at Clay-Chalkville he spent time at Mortimer Jordan and Thompson as an assistant coach.
