Shane McComb leaves Oak Mountain after three seasons in Alabama. His 2025 football team finished 4-6 in arguably the toughest region in the state. Just two region wins in those three seasons was not enough for him to retain his job. He did seem to have the Eagles headed in the right direction but the schedule proved to be difficult with so many excellent programs in region 3. The Eagles will be in search of their seventh head coach since the school opened in 1999. 2026 Season Jason Kervin served as the strength and conditioning coordinator at Pelham High School in the 2025 season. He will become the latest head football coach at Oak Mountain in 2026. Kervin began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Calera for two seasons starting in 2006. He moved north and was the offensive coordinator at Hoover for the next twelve seasons. Alpharetta, Georgia was his next stop where he was the head coach from 2020 through the 2024 football season. | |

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
