Veteran football coach, Russell Jacoway, stepped down from his duties at Sand Rock after 32 seasons with the program. His record is among the best in the state at 228-132. Jacoways best team may have been the 1985 squad that finished with a perfect 15-0 record, winning the Class 1A state championship in only his third season with the school.

His teams won 12 region championships and 22 playoff games during his career.
