After eleven seasons at Handley, veteran head football coach Mike Battles Sr. stepped down from his duties. His teams went a combined 88-45 and reached the playoffs in all but two seasons. His best team, the 2011 squad went 15-0 and won a state championship. Battles, a thirty year veteran won 209 games at five different schools in Alabama. His overall record stands at 280-168-2 including seasons as a head coach in Georgia and Mississippi. |
Larry Strain leaves White Plains after only one season with the school where the team posted a 2-8 record in 2014. Previously he served as the head coach at Woodland for 15 years with a record of 100-78. His teams won two region championships and went 16-12 in the playoffs at Woodland. |

Luverne 'Toad' Wise was the first female football player in Alabama and may have been the first in the country. She was a kicker for the Escambia County Blue Devils in 1939-40.
