Wayne Woodham was named to the 1964 honorable mention All-State team by the Birmingham Post Herald as a tackle at Blue Springs High School near Dothan. Woodham served as head football and basketball coach at Louisville High School from 1969-72 and at Admiral Moorer Middle School as head football coach from 1972-76. Woodham became an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Eufaula High School in the fall of 1976. The 1978 Eufaula team won the State Championship with his assistance. In 1980, Woodham became head football coach and assistant principal at Greenville High School. During this time, Woodham led the Tigers to their first playoff appearance in school history and their first undefeated regular season in 26 years. His 1981 and 1985 teams finished the regular seasons undefeated. In six years at Greenville, all but one of his squads reached the playoffs and each finished the season with a winning record. His overall record at Greenville was 61-14. Coach Woodham returned to Eufaula in 1986 where he served as the head football coach for the next seven seasons. His overall coaching record stands at 125-63-1 with a playoff slate of 16-9. In 2003, Woodham was inducted into the Wiregrass Sports Hall of Fame. On October 22, 2010, Greenville honored Coach Woodham by hosting "Wayne Woodham Day". |
