Swane Morris
Swane Morris graduated from Gaston High School in 1987 and holds both a bachelors and masters degree from UAB. His began his teaching/coaching career at Pleasant Valley in 1994 before moving to Southside-Gadsden in 1998 where he was the Panthers defensive coordinator for three seasons.
He was named the head coach at Gaston in 2001 and was tabbed Etowah County Coach of the Year four times (2002, 2004, 2007 and 2008). His teams in nine seasons went 70-37 with all but his first team reaching the playoffs.
In 2010 he took over the football program at Scottsboro for the next three seasons with a 5-25 record before moving back to Gaston in 2013.
His overall record entering the 2016 football season stands at 105-97 in 18 seasons.

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History
Morris Higginbotham coached three different teams to divisional state championships in the 1950s. He won titles at Walnut Grove in 1952, West Blocton in 1955 and Enterprise in 1960.
