Alexandria holds a 28-16 edge in the games played.

|
| Comments: Cherokee County comes in off the heels of securing their 600th program win by knocking off the Hokes Bluff Eagles 24-10. They stand at 6-2 on the season with their only losses being competitive games against Piedmont and Anniston. Keyshawn Woods lit up the stat sheet going for 314 yards on 34 carries and a TD while Adam Griffith threw for just over 100 yards and 2 TDs. |
Alexandria sits at 6-1 and coming off a big 56 to 13 win over Ashville. Cole Wheeler has been on fire for the Valley Cubs, throwing the ball around to multiple receivers with MJ Morris being a favorite target of his. |
This game is big for playoff positioning with the winner likely finishing second and securing a home playoff game. Both teams have been solid on defense. Alexandria has really lit up the scoreboard while Cherokee County not as much but still impressive. I really like that Griffith can throw when he needs to because this a game where he will probably need to. I have to give the edge to the home team though with their explosive passing game. |

|
|
| Comments: The Florence Falcons come in 4-3 (4-1) in region and riding a 3 game win streak. Last week they easily dispatched the Grissom Tigers 43 to 0. Cade Davis was near perfect going 15 to 17 for 201 yards and 2 TDs. The last three weeks the Florence defense has shown up and showed out, giving up 6, 17 and 0 points respectively. |
Huntsville stand at 5-2 (3-2) and also has a little win streak of 2 games and just shut out Albertville 34 to 0. The Panthers amassed 262 yards on the ground against the Aggies, with Armon Sellers accounting for 104. |
I certainly counted Florence out early in the year but the Falcons have rebounded nicely and sit atop the region, tied with Austin (Austin holds tiebreaker). The Panthers have finally found a running game which makes them significantly more effective. In an era where we see tons of high powered offenses, I really like the defensive approach of Kenny Morson and the Florence Falcons. Just about everything in this region has been unpredictable this year and this game wouldn't surprise me either way, but give the Falcons to extend their streak to 4 games. |

Vincent holds a 9-2 edge in the games played.
|
|
| Comments: Vincent is 5-2 (3-1) and in a three way tie for first in the region with Tuscaloosa Academy & Sulligent. They rebounded from a 30-12 loss to Tuscaloosa Academy by blanking Aliceville 27 to 0 last week. Jayden Roberts led Vincent with 171 yards on the ground while punching in one TD. |
Isabella 4-4 (2-2) is one of the harder teams to figure out. They pulled off an impressive upset earlier in the season 21 to 19 over Tuscaloosa Academy but then turns around and loses last week to Greene County 38 to 36, a game that they led 28 to 17 at the half. |
Isabella will present a lot of problems with their three headed monster of Tuttle, Wilkins and Kirkland. Vincent counters with their own talented backfield with Archer, Roberts and Wyatt. Isabella has a little more speed on the edges from what I can tell, but Vincent appears maybe a bit more physical on the interior. I like Isabella to continue their up and down season. |

The teams have both won 6 games.
|
|
| Comments: Randolph 3-4 (3-2) comes in off a bye week looking to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Two weeks ago they took out D.A.R. 45 to 15, a game which saw the Raiders put up 495 yards of offense. That offensive explosion was well balanced with 222 coming on the ground and 273 through the air. |
Madison County 3-5 (3-3) finds themselves in the same boat as the Raiders trying to keep their playoff hopes afloat. The Tigers are coming off a somewhat surprising shutout of Westminster Christian 27 to 0. The Tigers defense neutralized the Wildcats passing offense by picking off two passes. |
Randolph seems pretty balanced from what I have seen, where Madison County is more focused on the run, which makes sense when you have the thunder and lightning combo of Keonta Hlll and Cayden Owen. Should Randolph pull this out, they could likely find themselves in a rematch with the West Morgan Rebels whom they lost to in week One. |

|
| Comments: Comments: I doubt anyone had this circled as a big game before the season started, but here we are with a region championship on the line. Neither program has much history of success, and both likely have their best team ever, so this will be a fascinating matchup. |
Appalachian comes into this one 8-0 for the first time in school history. They got a big monkey off their back last season, winning their first playoff game since 2010. This year, they might be among the best teams in Class 1A, largely because of their run game. They have a remarkable 35 rushing Touchdowns as a team. Leading rusher Braden Gilliland has 135 carries for 1,355 yards and 21 TDs, and he's only played in seven games. The Eagles have improved massively on defense from a year ago. They are allowing just 12.6 ppg, and the only team to score more than 21 on them is 3A Locust Fork. |
It has been a historic season for the Woodville Panthers. They have already tied their school record for wins in a season with six, while they are also on a school record 6-game winning streak. They could accomplish two other firsts for the school by winning their first ever region championship this week and subsequently hosting a playoff game for the first time. Their defense is good, but not great, but their offense has been good enough that they've been able to outscore the better teams from their region. |
Appalachian has played four region games and given up just 27 points total in those games. Woodville has proven they can beat good teams like Spring Garden, but I think they'll struggle a bit against Appalachian's defense. |

|
|
| Comments: Comments: This may not be a game that's on a lot of people's radar, but there's a lot on the line in this one. This is essentially a winner-takes-all game for the final playoff spot in Class 4A Region 6. It would be the third straight playoff appearance for Hokes Bluff. For Ashville, it would be their first playoff appearance since 2005. |
Hokes Bluff is reeling a bit coming into this one, having lost back-to-back games and three of their last four. But those three losses were to the clear top three teams in the region, Anniston, Alexandria, and Cherokee County. The Eagles are always a run heavy team, and this year is no different behind Senior QB Bryce Whitaker. They likely hold the advantage on the defensive side of the ball, but I think their offense is probably about even to Ashville's. |
What a great job Coach Mark Sanders has done in his first season at Ashville. This is one of the toughest schools to win at in this part of the state, and he's already got the Bulldogs in position to reach the postseason for the first time in 20 years. And for the most part, they've been playing better and better as the season has gone on. They did get blown out by Alexandria last week, but so has every other team aside from Anniston. Ashville has a really good QB in Senior JB Potter, who has thrown for over 1,300 yards and 15 TDS and is the team's leading rusher with over 600 yards and 6 TDs. |
Ashville has been a great story this year, but their entire season has led up to this moment, where they have a chance to break a playoff drought spanning two decades. I think they can make a game of this, but Hokes Bluff is a tough place to play, and I think that will make the difference. |

Vigor holds a 26-10 edge in the games played.
|
|
| Comments: Comments: I've had this one circled as my game of the year for about a month now. Vigor was my #1 team in 5A for most of the season until I jumped Williamson over them the week before their 100-point outing. These are the two most complete teams in 5A in my estimation, so we'll know who the championship favorite is after this one. |
Williamson has an elite Quarterback in Alvin Dinkins. The Senior has completed 75% of his passes on the season for nearly 2,000 yards and 25 TDs to just 3 interceptions. But the Lions also have an extremely capable rushing attack, led by Senior Running Back Todrick Withers with 875 yards and 13 TDs on 10.3 yards per carry. The amazing thing is this: the offense probably isn't even their best unit. They have the 2nd best scoring defense in any class, allowing just 24 total points through 7 games with 4 shutouts. UMS-Wright last week was the first team to score double digits on them with just 10 points. The average score of their games this year have been an absurd 54-3. |
There's a real chance Vigor might be the only team in 5A that can beat Williamson. A big reason for that is that they also have top-notch QB play. Senior Sammy Dunn is completing nearly 66% of his passes for 1,400 yards and 12 TDs, but he also has 8 TDs on the ground. The Wolves have the 3rd highest-scoring offense in Class 5A at 4.9 ppg to go with the 3rd best scoring defense at 9.6 points allowed per game. Edge Rusher Jabarrius Garror is considered by many to be the state's top recruit in the Junior Class, and he has 12 TFLs and 6 sacks on the season. |
I think Vigor has the talent to stay in this game, but there's no question that Williamson has the advantage in overall talent. If Vigor can avoid turnovers and maybe force a couple of their own, they might even be able to win. But at the end of the day, talent usually wins out. |

| Comments: Comments: A common trend among the best teams in the higher classifications is great Quarterback play, and we definitely have that in this matchup. Both teams rank among the top 5 scoring offenses in Class 6A, so don't be surprised to see some fireworks in this one. |
Last year, we kept saying that passing the ball was a bit of an issue for Parker. This year, however, they have no such issue. In fact, it might be the strength of their offense. Senior QB Dylan Reese is completing 65% of his passes for nearly 1,900 yards and 25 TDs. But they've also got a great rushing attack. Four different players have at least 250 yards rushing, and 3* RB Chancellor Sparks leads the team with 661 yards, averaging 110 yards per game he has played in. Overall, this team might not be quite as strong as it was last year, but their offense is significantly better. |
Homewood is great on both sides of the ball. They rank 2nd in Class 6A in scoring offense, averaging 42 points per game, and they rank 4th in Class 6A in scoring defense, allowing just 8 points per game. Senior Quarterback Kaleb Carson has thrown for 1,200 yards and 16 TDs in the six games he has played, and he's the team's second leading rusher with 241 yards and two more scores. Their defense looks elite on paper, but they really haven't faced many good offenses. They are always sound defensively, but this will be their first major test on that side of the ball. |
With all the talent Parker lost from last year's team, it's amazing that they still have the talent to be one of the favorites to win the state title in Class 6A. Homewood is their last real test before the playoffs, and I expect them to prove they could go back-to-back. |

| Comments: A game that will decide the region championship. This year when they played it was close for a little bit but Pike Road's overall talent and coaching pulled away in the second half. Now Russell County returned a lot of that talent from last year's team and they have been really good. |
Pike Road is just as talented as they were last year. My question is, Russell County just didn't have the depth to play with Pike Road last year, the Patriots had more dudes at a top level than the Warriors plain and simple. It is in Seale which will give Russell County the homefield advantage. Pike Road hasn't struggled much with 6A competition up to this point. I don't think this year is much different than last year. |
It's a bad matchup for Russell County and I think Pike Road wins this one going away. |

| Comments: The Tigers from Auburn have been hard to read this season. Some weeks they look very good, others, not so much. Carver Montgomery has only looked bad in two games, and funny enough they were against the unquestioned top two teams in 7A this year. |
My questions for this game is, how does Auburn come out the gate? Which Auburn team will we see? For Carver Montgomery my main concern is turnovers, they really hurt the Wolverines last week and basically buried themselves with fumbles. |
I think Auburn has the slight edge, I think it will be extremely close, but give me Auburn to win off a field goal. |

Neither found any success against Wadley, but who does? It is going to be a very tightly contested game, and I have been back and forth on what to pick. I really think if they played ten times, each team would win five times. However I just have a feeling the Gators get this one done. |

It's extremely balanced and that is a welcomed sight, and they are all very close to one another, once again, a welcomed sight. However this is big for either a Pike County playoff push, or a Dale County region title run. Is either team a prime time team? |
