Week 11 Picks

at Lamar Field
Florence   Oxford
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
5A-R7  Class/Region 5A-R6
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
75.4  Power Rating 76.1
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Oxford as a 3 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Florence Falcons defeated Oxford by a score of 12-11 in week 11 on the road  on Thu., Oct. 30 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Oxford and Florence have met 4 times on the field.... Oxford holds a 3-1 edge in the games played.

Comments:    The Falcons have had an odd year, winning some games they weren't expected to win and getting blown out in games where they were expected to be competitive. They're coming off a heartbreaking loss to Sparkman, 24 to 21 that saw them lose grip on a sure region title. Now we must play another week to determine region winner.

Oxford comes in with an identical record to Florence at 5-4 and having locked up the 3rd place in 6A R6 after beating Huffman mercilessly last week 55 to 6. Maddox Mims & Caleb Jenkins combined to pass for 5 TD's.

I think Florence matches up pretty well with Oxford, but Florence still has a way to go before they can win against marquee programs. Mims to Taylor is a dangerous combination that will give the Falcons trouble. I think Florence is moving in the right direction and this game won't be the 30 to 0 game it was last year, but I still like the Yellow Jackets.

Prediction:  Oxford 24 Florence 17

 Austin (0-0) at
 Muscle Shoals (0-0)
at J.F. Moore Stadium
Austin   Muscle Shoals
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
5A-R7  Class/Region 5A-R7
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
74.9  Power Rating 91.8
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Muscle Shoals as a 19 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Muscle Shoals Trojans defeated Austin by a score of 30-7 in week 11 on the road  on Thu., Oct. 30 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Muscle Shoals and Austin have met 12 times on the field.... The teams have both won 6 games.

Comments:    Austin, like Florence, is a part of the absolute quagmire that is 7A R4. A win over the Trojans would likely catapult them to the region title. They're coming off a 35 to 14 victory over lowly Grissom.

The Trojans continued their perfect season by knocking off the Hartselle Tigers last week 31 to 17. A victory that gave them their third straight region title. They trailed 14 to 0 before scoring 31 of the final 34 points.

Qadir Lyle is a dual threat QB for the Black Bears that is fun to watch and has put up some big numbers this year, but I don't think he has faced a defense like the Trojans this year. Their D line is huge. Austin will need to have those big plays to counteract the Trojans and WR Christian Pritchard who showed up and showed out against Hartselle. The Trojans are giving up 6.4 points per game.

Prediction:  Muscle Shoals 31 Austin 10

 Red Bay (0-0) at
 Phil Campbell (0-0)
at Parrish Stadium
Red Bay   Phil Campbell
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
1A-R7  Class/Region 2A-R7
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
45.9  Power Rating 44.6
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Phil Campbell as a 1 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Phil Campbell Bobcats defeated Red Bay by a score of 46-38 in week 11 on the road  on Fri., Oct. 31 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Phil Campbell and Red Bay have met 83 times on the field.... Red Bay holds a 49-34 edge in the games played.

Comments:    How about those Red Bay Tigers? Coming off a 2 win season, here they sit 8-1 and region champion of 2A R8. They just finished off Tanner to the tune of 44 to 21. Their only blemish is a 30 to 7 loss to a really solid University Charter School.

Phil Campbell Bobcats return to the post season after a one year hiatus by clinching the 4 seed in 3A-R8. They stand at 5-4 and just annihilated Hanceville 76 to 29. Braxton Downey finished the night with 178 yards on the ground.

Red Bay has been one of the bigger turnarounds this season Stepping up a class to end the season is never easy, especially against a much improved Phil Campbell team. The Bobcats can put up a lot of points in a hurry (averaging over 35ppg) but they can give up a lot too (29.9 ppg). I like the physicality of Phil Campbell in this one.

Prediction:  Phil Campbell 44 Red Bay 28

 Deshler (0-0) at
 West Morgan (0-0)
at Rebels Stadium
Deshler   West Morgan
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
4A-R7  Class/Region 4A-R7
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
73.0  Power Rating 76.7
AHSFHS Power Ratings have West Morgan as a 6 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The West Morgan Rebels defeated Deshler by a score of 13-7 in week 11 on the road  on Thu., Oct. 30 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   West Morgan and Deshler have met 8 times on the field.... The teams have both won 4 games.

Comments:    Deshler enters the game 9-0 and tied with the Rebels for the region lead. They're coming off a 56-0 win over East Lawrence. The Tigers are outscoring opponents 44 to 12. Price Thornton threw for 275 yards and a TD in the game.

West Morgan shows up with an identical record of 9-0 and riding the State's current longest regular season win streak at 33 games. They easily dispatched the Wilson Warriors last week 42 to 7. The combo of Johnson and Fletcher went for 365 on the ground.

Well here we are folks. A place I think most of us in my area knew we would be all year. Two juggernauts undefeated looking to get some momentum heading into the playoffs. Thornton, Partlow, Gunn, Johnson, Thomas, Reid, Phillips, Malone... it goes on and on. Both of these teams are stacked. West Morgan has the size advantage but that hasn't stopped Deshler this year in previous contests. West Morgan has started slow a few times this year, they certainly can't allow that to happen this week.

Last year this was a 35-34 victory in Tuscumbia for the Rebels which ultimately led to the Tigers missing the playoffs. I have said all year that I think Thornton to Reid is one of the better combinations in the North then mix in Fuller and Mckinney and you have one very dangerous receiving corps. The difference here is can Deshler get their running game going against that big West Morgan defense?

Prediction:  Deshler 29 West Morgan 26

 Hubbertville (0-0) at

0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
1A-R5  Class/Region 1A-R7
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
52.8  Power Rating 36.0
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Hubbertville as a 15 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Hubbertville Lions defeated Hackleburg by a score of 42-6 in the second round of the playoffs at Home  on Fri., Nov. 14 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Hackleburg and Hubbertville have met 59 times on the field.... Hackleburg holds a 34-23 edge in the games played.

Comments:    Comments: Picking games in the last week of the regular season is often extremely difficult. How motivated will either side be as they have one eye on this week and another on the playoffs? Will they rest their top players? Did they already start game-planning for next week? Everybody has a different agenda in Week 11, but every team likes having some momentum heading into the postseason.

This is the exact opposite circumstances we saw from this matchup last year. Hackleburg entered undefeated facing a 2-loss Hubbertville, who ultimately handed them their first loss. Hackleburg recovered from that loss to make the Semifinals. Like last year, the defense is the strength of this Panthers team. They rank 6th in Class 1A in scoring defense, allowing just 13 points per game. The only 1A team they've struggled against is Addison, who has slaughtered every 1A team they've played.

Hubbertville upset undefeated Hackleburg in this one a year ago, and they'll hope to avoid suffering the same fate this year, although I'm sure they wouldn't mind a Semifinal run of their own. They're sights are set even higher than that, though, as this is likely the best team they've ever had. They're averaging 56.6 points per game, best in Class 1A. They also have the 9th best scoring defense in 1A at 14.6 points per game. Nobody has scored more than six points on them since mid-September, and the only time they've been held under 50 themselves in in a 44-12 win over Berry. They're one of the few teams with both a 1,500 yard passer and 1,000 yard rusher in QB Blaize Wakefield and RB Tyler Stricklin, and they'll be even better next year as they'll return most of their key players.

We always see some crazy results in the final week of the regular season, but I don't expect this to be one of them unless Hubbertville rests some key players. However, 1A schools don't typically have that luxury due to smaller rosters.

Prediction:  Hubbertville 48, Hackleburg 16

 Glencoe (0-0) at
 Piedmont (0-0)
at Field of Champions
Glencoe   Piedmont
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
3A-R6  Class/Region 2A-R6
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
53.5  Power Rating 75.7
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Piedmont as a 24 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Piedmont Bulldogs defeated Glencoe by a score of 46-0 in week 11 on the road  on Fri., Oct. 31 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Piedmont and Glencoe have met 55 times on the field.... Piedmont holds a 30-24 edge in the games played.

Comments:    Comments: There's a few regions across the state that will still be playing region games this week, and the 9-team Class 3A Region 6 is one of them. If Glencoe can pull off the upset, there's potential for a 3-way tie for the region title between these two schools and Westbrook Christian. If that happens, the region champion will be either Piedmont or Glencoe, depending on what happens in other games.

Statistically, Piedmont is one of the clear top three teams in Class 3A. They are one of three teams ranked in the top 5 in both scoring offense and scoring defense in 3A. They rank 3rd in scoring offense at 50.4 points per game and 2nd in scoring defense at 9.7 per game. They've pretty comfortably won every game so far, with the only two games that were fairly close being a 24-8 win over 4A Cherokee County and a 40-27 win over Westbrook Christian. The last couple of years, this had been a team that liked to air it out offensively, but they've become a run heavy team this year with over 2,000 rushing yards as a team. Five different players have at least 3 TDs on the ground. When they throw the ball, over 50% of their targets go to Senior Rollie Pinto, who has 34 catches for 11 TDs.

First year coach Bayley Blanchard has orchestrated an incredible turnaround at Glencoe. This school had averaged just two wins a season over the last five years, but they've already got seven wins in the bank this season. The future looks bright for this team, as most of their playmakers should be back next season. Sophomore QB Jaymin Mintz has 11 passing TDs to just 1 interception on the season, while Sophomore RB Alex Hudson Jr. and Junior RB Bronner McMurray each have over 500 rushing yards and 9 TDs. Their top two receivers are also Juniors. It'll take a lot of things falling their way for it to happen, but the Yellow Jackets could still have an outside shot at their first region championship since 2014 and second in the last 30 seasons.

I expect Piedmont to win this one pretty comfortably and show they're a legitimate championship contender. Glencoe might be overmatched here, but they'll be a tough out for Winfield in the First Round.

Prediction:  Piedmont 42, Glencoe 14

 American Christian (0-0) at
 Northside (0-0)
at Northside Stadium
American Christian   Northside
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
AA-R2  Class/Region 4A-R3
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
55.0  Power Rating 83.0
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Northside as a 30 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Northside Rams defeated American Christian by a score of 45-14 in week 11 on the road  on Thu., Oct. 30 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Northside and American Christian have met 16 times on the field.... American Christian holds a 9-7 edge in the games played.

Comments:    Comments: This probably wasn't a matchup anyone thought much of before the season, but this will be a great measuring stick game before the playoffs for these two region champions from the Tuscaloosa area.

Northside ranks 2nd in Class 5A in both scoring offense and scoring defense, trailing Williamson in both. They're scoring 50.1 points per game while allowing just 9.8 per game. There's no question that this is their best team in school history, and they have the chance to complete their first undefeated regular season in school history. It's true that their schedule has been extremely weak, but you can only play the teams in front of you, and they've taken care of business in every contest, winning every game by at least 24 points while scoring at least 40 in every game.

American Christian started this season 1-3 a year after missing the playoffs. A month into the season, most people had written them off. But the Patriots have reeled off five straight wins to win the region championship for Class 4A Region 4. The biggest reason for their strong second half of the season has been their offense. Through their first four games, they were averaging under 20 points per game. Over the last five, they've averaged close to 50, scoring at least 38 in each of those games.

In truth, I'm not convinced either of these teams played in particularly strong regions, which makes this game even more intriguing as it will likely be the best team either side has played so far. This could be one of those matchups where you have to worry about whether both teams will play their starters the whole game, so I'll go with the team with a chance to make history.

Prediction:  Northside 56, American Christian 34

 Good Hope (0-0) at
 Fairview (0-0)
at Dafford Smith Stadium
Good Hope   Fairview
0-0 (0-0)  Record 0-0 (0-0)
4A-R8  Class/Region 4A-R8
NR  ASWA Ranking NR
65.0  Power Rating 72.5
AHSFHS Power Ratings have Fairview as a 10 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Fairview Aggies defeated Good Hope by a score of 14-7 in week 11 on the road  on Thu., Oct. 30 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Fairview and Good Hope have met 31 times on the field.... Good Hope holds a 18-13 edge in the games played.

Comments:    Comments: It won't be a very long bus ride for the Good Hope Raiders as they make the trip East to face a familiar foe in the Fairview Aggies. Both teams have faced some pretty stiff competition in the back half of their schedules, and they'll have to stay focused for one more week before looking ahead to the playoffs.

It took a while to get them going, but Coach George Redding Jr has turned Fairview into quite the program in North Alabama. The Aggies have won back-to-back region championships for the first time in school history en route to their 7th straight playoff appearance. A win will also give them back-to-back undefeated regular seasons, which is very impressive. They're almost always a run heavy team, but when you've got a running back as good as Jake Harper it makes sense to lean on him. The Senior has 1,518 yards and 26 TDs on the ground and has eclipsed the 100-yard mark in every game this year.

I'll be really interested to see how invested Good Hope is in this game knowing they've got a matchup with Cherokee County looming in the 1st Round. They've lost the last four games in this series and haven't beaten Fairview since 2008, so there should be some motivation for them to show up. Good Hope didn't allow double digit points in a game until their loss to undefeated Hamilton in Week 8, and they're still only allowing 9.7 points per game. It could be worth mentioning that they share two common opponents with Fairview in West Point and Fultondale, and Good Hope beat both teams worse.

It's unlikely that either of these teams will be among the favorites in their respective classes to reach the state championship game, but either are capable of making a dark horse run. A dominant win would be a statement for either side.

Prediction:  Fairview 34, Good Hope 21

AHSFHS Power Ratings have Reeltown as a 17 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Lee-Scott Academy Warriors defeated Reeltown by a score of 28-25 in week 11 on the road  on Fri., Oct. 31 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Reeltown and Lee-Scott Academy have met 2 times on the field.... The teams have both won 1 game.

Comments:    Reeltown is looking to build momentum towards another state title run after winning 2A last year. Lee Scott is having their best season in the AHSAA but has only been in it for two years so the sample size is small. My main concern for Lee Scott in this game is the difference on the outside. Reeltown is a very fast football team and can score in a hurry.

Lee Scott has been able to put up points this year, but not quite at the level of Reeltown. Reeltown dropped their only game to Lanett, and you know we would love to see a rematch in that contest. Reeltown has been consistent scoring all year, but defensively I have my questions on if they can repeat as champions. Lee Scott I have seen flashes and if they put it all together they can really become a contender in a very open 3A south.

I think Reeltown wins with speed, but will be a close football game.

Prediction:  Reeltown 43 Lee Scott 35

AHSFHS Power Ratings have Hubbertville as a 15 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Hubbertville Lions defeated Hackleburg by a score of 42-6 in the second round of the playoffs at Home  on Fri., Nov. 14 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Hackleburg and Hubbertville have met 59 times on the field.... Hackleburg holds a 34-23 edge in the games played.

Comments:    So Hubbertville has been on quite the run this year. What a season it has been, already surpassing last year's win total even before the regular season finale. Blaise Wakefield leads the Lions alongside the likes of Cain Rushing, and Tyler Strickland. All three of these players are not seniors so I expected to see the Lions making deep playoff runs for at least another year or two.

An underrated aspect to this is Hubbertville has not played a home game in around three weeks, and only had four home games this year. Granted, last week they got a forfeit victory, so when they host Woodland for the first round of the playoffs, it will have basically been a month since their last home game.

Hackleburg is a tough group to face, and I expect them to give Hubbertville a game. But I think the Lions are going to be a tough team to beat this season.

Prediction:  Hubbertville 40 Hackleburg 21

AHSFHS Power Ratings have W.S. Neal as a 17 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The W.S. Neal Eagles defeated T.R. Miller by a score of 21-0 in week 11 on the road  on Fri., Oct. 31 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller have met 83 times on the field.... T.R. Miller holds a 59-24 edge in the games played.

Comments:    One of, if not the greatest rivalry in the state of Alabama. So much history, so much good football between these two schools. It truly is one of the best atmospheres you can attend in the state. If you can go to one of their games, I recommend it. This year it is a little different.

This is a really good WS Neal team, and this isn't one of TR Miller's better teams in recent history. TR Miller has historically owned this series. In fact, the last time WS Neal won a game against TR Miller was 2017. However this is a really good WS Neal team, and I think they are a sneaky good team.

TR Miller is too inconsistent for my liking, and I am picking WS Neal to pick up their first win over their bitter rivals in eight years. TR Miller is too inconsistent for my liking, and I am picking WS Neal to pick up their first win over their bitter rivals in eight years.

Prediction:  WS Neal 22 TR Miller 21

AHSFHS Power Ratings have Greensboro as a 5 point favorite.

Last Meeting:   The Aliceville Yellow Jackets defeated Greensboro by a score of 40-8 in week 11 on the road  on Fri., Oct. 31 during the 2025 football season.

Series:   Greensboro and Aliceville have met 33 times on the field.... Greensboro holds a 18-15 edge in the games played.

Comments:    Hello there, I am breaking the fourth wall. I know this game has absolutely zero impact on anything relating to the playoffs. However this is being played for all the glory and bragging rights in this part of the state! Who cares what the record shows? Don't you, the reader, feel so honored to be getting ready to read a preview about Greensboro Raider Football?

You should be! Finding information on this matchup is about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack. But here we are, the last regular season week of the year, Aliceville has been very very close in a lot of their losses this year.

Oh so close, yet so far. Greensboro when they have won, it has been mostly close, even pitching two shutouts, who knew! But when they have loss, boy, they have lost by a lot. So why are we previewing this game? Who cares! This is football! All football is good football in my eyes. I am going with the Greensboro Raiders in what should be one of the football games of all time.

Give me the Raiders to end the season on a high note!

Prediction:  Greensboro 18 Aliceville 12

Great Moments in Alabama High School Football History

Thomasville scored 54 points against Gulf Shores in the first quarter of a game in 2003. They managed to hang on for an 81-14 win.
