 2026 Preview 


       Wetumpka completed the 2025 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 6A region two, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2025. Wetumpka's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Saraland by a score of 49-24.

       Since 2010, Wetumpka has gone a combined 106-77. Their 57.9% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 5A over the past sixteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Wetumpka has managed to compile a record of 166-116. Their 59.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 5A and 103rd in the AHSAA.

Head Coach:
       The Indians are led by head coach Bear Woods who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 25-19 over the past four seasons at Wetumpka. Under his direction the Indians have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Woods.

Season Outlook:

       The Wetumpka Indians will play in Class 5A region two during the 2026 season.

      

       Six straight playoff appearances for the Indians without a victory seems to be out of character for the fans in Wetumpka. Look for them to be back in the playoff hunt once again in 2026 with an outside shot at hosting a first round game. With the addition of Benjamin Russell to the mix that may prove a tall task.

    The Indians have a good shot at one of the last two playoff slots in region two this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2012 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2026.

      While only returning 9 starters the newcomers are a hardworking and talented group. The goal and expectation is to bring the 5A Region 2 Title back to Wetumpka this season.

Season Opener:
       The Indians open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Andalusia on Friday, August 21 at Memorial Stadium. Last year the Andalusia Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 8-4 and in second place in Class 5A region two. The Bulldogs lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Central Clay County by a score of 21-2.

       This will be the second meeting between Wetumpka and Andalusia on the football field. The Indians have a 1-0-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in with
