2026 Preview

Springville finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Springville just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 5A region six with a 1-5 region record.        The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2005 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.        Springville struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 42.8 points a game.        The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Springville football program has struggled with a record of 46-114.        Over the past 25 seasons, Springville has managed to compile a record of 117-147. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 44th in Class 5A and 253rd in the AHSAA. Their last winning season was 2011. Coaching Change:      Chris Metcalf  leaves Springville after just one season with a 1-9 record. He arrived at the school with high hopes but he stepped down to take an assistant coaching job at Mountain Brook in March. The Tigers will be in search of a new coach in hopes of turning around a promising program that has not had a winning season since 2011. 2026 Head Coach:     Jeff Lumpkin  will be the next head football coach at Springville when fall practice opens in August. Lumpkin attended Alexandria High School and received his degree from Jacksonville State University before embarking on his coaching career. This will be his first head coaching job. Season Outlook:        The Springville Tigers will play in Class 5A region six during the 2026 season.               The Tigers of Springville will be in a rebuilding mood after going 1-9 in 2025. They have not won more than five games in any season since 2009 and have not reached the playoffs since that same year. So where do they go from here? The only way is up with a new coaching staff.        The Tigers were not really very competitive on the field in 2025 winning just one game and losing eight by lopsided scores.     This season, the Tigers will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six.

Season Opener:
       The Tigers open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Ashville on Friday, August 21 at Ken Logan Stadium. Last year the Ashville Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region six. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Hamilton by a score of 35-28.

       Springville and Ashville have met a total of 59 times on the football field. The Tigers have a 29-27-3 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2025 with Ashville winning by a score of 27-21.
