2026 Preview

Zion Chapel completed the 2025 season with a 6-5 record. With their 3-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region three, the Rebels earned a spot in the playoffs in 2025. Zion Chapel's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lanett by a score of 42-6.        The Rebels last playoff victory came during the 1979 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.        Since 2010, Zion Chapel has gone a combined 56-108. Their 34.1% winning percentage ranks 52nd in Class 2A over the past sixteen seasons.        Over the past 25 seasons, Zion Chapel has not won much with a record of 82-174. Their 32.0% winning percentage ranks 57th in Class 2A and 342nd in the AHSAA. Head Coach:        The Rebels are led by head coach Cody Keene Jr. who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 21-21 over the past four seasons at Zion Chapel. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Keene Jr.. Season Outlook:        The Zion Chapel Rebels will play in Class 2A region two during the 2026 season.        Zion Chapel will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.        The Rebels have enjoyed three straight winning seasons and that should be something the fans are excited about at Zion Chapel. The last time they accomplished that was back in 1979.     The Rebels could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Unfortunately, Zion Chapel finds themselves in a very competitive region with other playoff quality teams. They may need to pull off an upset or two to have any chance at the postseason.

Season Opener:
       The Rebels open the 2026 season at home against non-region opponent Kinston on Friday, August 21 at Greene Memorial Stadium. Last year the Kinston Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 1A region two.

       Zion Chapel and Kinston have met a total of 50 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 27-23-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2025 with Zion Chapel winning by a score of 28-0.
