 2026 Preview

Monroe County finished the 2025 season with a disappointing 3-7 record. Last year Monroe County finished sixth in Class 3A region one with a 1-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

The Tigers have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2003 season and would love to end that streak this year. The Tigers last playoff victory came during the 2003 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win.

Monroe County was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Tigers want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.7 points a game.

The Tigers would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 4-16 record. Since 2010, the Monroe County football program has struggled with a record of 37-122.

Over the past 25 seasons, Monroe County has not won much with a record of 60-191. Their 24.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 2A and 369th in the AHSAA. The Tigers have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time.

Head Coach:
The Tigers are led by head coach Robert Wilkerson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 3-7 record in his first season at Monroe County. The Tigers saw improvement from a 1-9 record the season before coach Wilkerson arrived. The Tigers have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Wilkerson.

Season Outlook:

The Monroe County Tigers will play in Class 2A region one during the 2026 season.

The Tigers will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season.

Season Opener:
The Tigers open the 2026 season on the road against non-region opponent Orange Beach on Friday, August 28 at Orange beach Sportsplex. Last year the Orange Beach Makos finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 4A region one.

This will be the second meeting between Monroe County and Orange Beach on the football field. The Tigers have a 0-1-0 record against the Makos. They last met in with
