 2023 Preview 


       Lakeside finished the 2022 season with a disappointing 3-8 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class A region one, the Chiefs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Lakeside's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Jackson Academy by a score of 58-0.

       Since 2010, Lakeside has gone a combined 61-77. Their 44.2% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lakeside has managed to compile a record of 115-145. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class A and 23rd in the AISA.




       The Chiefs will be under the direction of new head football coach Buck McDonald as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach McDonald served as head coach for Lakeside Middle School last season, and currently also serves as assistant baseball coach. McDonald also spent four years as defensive coach at Abbeville Christian Academy and one season as defensive coordinator.

      

       The Chiefs open the 2023 season at home against non-region opponent Macon-East Academy on Friday, August 25 at Reeves Field. Last year the Macon-East Academy Knights finished with an overall record of 7-4 and in third place in Class AA region one. The Knights lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Clarke Prep by a score of 35-19.

       Lakeside and Macon-East Academy have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Chiefs have a 3-5-0 record against the Knights. They last met in 2022 with Macon-East Academy winning by a score of 33-18.
