 2023 Preview 


       Northside Methodist Academy completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Northside Methodist Academy finished eighth in Class 3A region two with a 2-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Knights have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2023.

      

       Northside Methodist Academy is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only nine seasons. They have managed a record of 34-61 over the past nine years.

       Over the past 9 seasons, Northside Methodist Academy has managed to compile a record of 34-61. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 49th in Class 3A and 316th in the AHSAA.




       The Knights will be under the direction of new head football coach Stefan Gainey as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Gainey joined the Knights program under coach Greene as a defensive coordinator in 2021. Prior to that, he coached for Charles Henderson, Honeysuckle Middle School, and Ashford High School.

       The Knights will need to win a few more games this fall if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region two this season.

       The Knights open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Houston County on Friday, August 25 at L.F. Tillery Field. Last year the Houston County Lions finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in seventh place in Class 1A region two. The Lions closed out the regular season with a loss to Kinston by a score of 18-15.

       Northside Methodist Academy and Houston County have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Knights have a 3-1-0 record against the Lions. They last met in 2022 with Northside Methodist Academy winning by a score of 42-20.
