 2023 Preview 


       Lowndes Academy completed the 2022 season with a 11-2 record. Last year Lowndes Academy captured the region one title and a number one seed in the Class A playoffs. They finished region play with a 4-0 record. The Lowndes Academy Rebels claimed the AISA-A State Championship by defeating Jackson Academy 24-8 in Troy.

       No team at Lowndes Academy ever won more games in a season than the eleven victories last year.

       Over the past two seasons the Rebels have Finished 22-5 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, Lowndes Academy has gone a combined 76-68. Their 52.8% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Lowndes Academy has managed to compile a record of 155-124. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class A and 16th in the AISA.




       The Rebels are led by head coach Shane Moye who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 37-22 over the past five seasons at Lowndes Academy. Under his direction the Rebels have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Moye. Coach Moye has won two state championships at Lowndes Academy, the last coming in 2022.

       The Rebels enter the 2023 season riding a 6 game winning streak. Lowndes Academy has won 10 consecutive region games.

      

       The Rebels open the 2023 season on the road against region opponent Coosa Valley Academy on Friday, September 1 at Don Greene/Rebels Stadium. Last year the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in fifth place in Class A region one. The Rebels ended last season on a positive note with a win over Sparta Academy by a score of 13-12 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Lowndes Academy and Coosa Valley Academy have met a total of 11 times on the football field. The Rebels have a 9-2-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in 2022 with Lowndes Academy winning by a score of 40-0.

       Lowndes Academy lost AISA All-State  defensive lineman Dominic Dougan to graduation. He was named to the second team last season.

       The Rebels return AISA All-State Senior linebacker Cooper Dansby. He was named to the first team last season. The Rebels also return Senior quarterback Clayton Hussey. He was named to the second team. The Rebels also return Junior offensive lineman Ashton Yelder. He was named to the second team. The Rebels also return Senior athlete Kasen Dismukes. He was named to the second team. The Rebels also return Senior defensive back Scott Stinson. He was named to the honorable mention team.
