Florala completed the 2022 season with a 7-4 record. With their 5-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2022. Florala's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Millry by a score of 55-7. Since 2010, Florala has gone a combined 56-74. Their 43.1% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 1A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Florala has managed to compile a record of 114-147. Their 44.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 1A and 247th in the AHSAA. The Wildcats are led by head coach Jordan Cantrell who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 7-4 record in his first season at Florala. The Wildcats saw improvement from a 3-7 record the season before coach Cantrell arrived. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have not won a region crown with Coach Cantrell. Over the course of his career, Coach Cantrell's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times . The Wildcats should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. Hosting a first round playoff game on their home turf would be an advantage. Junior QB Rayshon Coleman will be returning after completing 94 of 182 passes for 1,442 yards last season along with 11 touchdowns. Coleman also ran for another 1,544 yards and scored 23 TDs. The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Red Level on Friday, September 1 at Crystal Spring Park. Last year the Red Level Tigers finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fifth place in Class 1A region two. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Samson by a score of 38-24. Florala and Red Level have met a total of 70 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 42-28-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with Florala winning by a score of 34-19. Florala lost 1A All-State linebacker Zane Weeks to graduation. He was named to the second team last season. The Wildcats return 1A All-State Senior athlete Rayshon Coleman.
