 2022 Preview 


       Wilcox Academy completed the 2021 season with a 4-6 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class AA region two, the Wildcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Wilcox Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Chambers Academy by a score of 42-14.

       Since 2010, Wilcox Academy has gone a combined 59-69. Their 46.1% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Wilcox Academy has managed to compile a record of 150-129. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class A and 17th in the AISA.




       The Wildcats are led by head coach Woodie Beck who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 18-13 over the past three seasons at Wilcox Academy. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Beck.

       Coach Beck's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 22-21 (51.2%). Over the course of his career, Coach Beck's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times .

       The Wilcox Academy Wildcats will play in Class A region two during the 2022 season. The Wildcats may find the schedule slightly easier this season with the move down in classification from Class AA to A. They will compete in region two this year.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season.

       The Wildcats open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pickens Academy on Friday, August 26 at Billy McGee Stadium. Last year the Pickens Academy Pirates finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class A region two. The Pirates lost in the first round of the Class A playoffs to Lowndes Academy by a score of 34-0.

       Wilcox Academy and Pickens Academy have met a total of 18 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 9-9-0 record against the Pirates. They last met in 2019 with Wilcox Academy winning by a score of 40-0.
