2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
R.C. Hatch finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 3-6 record. With their 2-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 1A region three, the Bobcats earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. R.C. Hatch's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Brantley by a score of 59-6. It marked the first time since the 2017 season that the Bobcats qualified for the playoffs. The Bobcats have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2022. R.C. Hatch was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Bobcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 18.7 points a game. The Bobcats would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-13 record. Since 2010, R.C. Hatch has gone a combined 37-82. Their 31.1% winning percentage ranks 46th in Class 1A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, R.C. Hatch has not won much with a record of 47-187. Their 20.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 1A and 387th in the AHSAA. The Bobcats have struggled on the football field with only two winning seasons during this time. The Bobcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Cyontai Lewis as they enter the 2022 season. Coach Lewis is a former player at the University of Florida. The R.C. Hatch Bobcats will play in Class 1A region three during the 2022 season. It will be an uphill battle for the Bobcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region three this season. The Bobcats open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Autaugaville on Friday, August 19 at Bobcat Stadium. Last year the Autaugaville Eagles finished with an overall record of 6-4 and in fifth place in Class 1A region four. The Eagles ended last season on a positive note with a win over A.L. Johnson by a score of 20-16 after failing to gain a playoff spot. R.C. Hatch and Autaugaville have met a total of 9 times on the football field. The Bobcats have a 3-6-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2021 with Autaugaville winning by a score of 32-14. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
