Pickens Academy completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 2-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class A region two, the Pirates earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Pickens Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Lowndes Academy by a score of 34-0. Since 2010, Pickens Academy has gone a combined 62-69. Their 47.3% winning percentage ranks 8th in Class AA over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Pickens Academy has managed to compile a record of 161-117. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA and 13th in the AISA. The Pirates are led by head coach Scott Pennington who is entering his fourth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 12-20 over the past three seasons at Pickens Academy. Under his direction the Pirates have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times. The Pirates open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Wilcox Academy on Friday, August 26 at Billy McGee Stadium. Last year the Wilcox Academy Wildcats finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in fourth place in Class AA region two. The Wildcats lost in the first round of the Class AA playoffs to Chambers Academy by a score of 42-14. Pickens Academy and Wilcox Academy have met a total of 18 times on the football field.
