 2022 Preview 


       Morgan Academy completed the 2021 season with a 5-6 record. With their 3-2 region record and a second place finish in Class AAA region two, the Senators earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Morgan Academy's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Glenwood School by a score of 54-41.

       Since 2010, Morgan Academy has gone a combined 63-68. Their 48.1% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AAA over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Morgan Academy has managed to compile a record of 175-111. Their 61.0% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AAA and 8th in the AISA.




       The Senators are led by head coach Danny Raines who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 13-9 over the past two seasons at Morgan Academy. Under his direction the Senators have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Raines.

       Coach Raines' overall record as a head football coach in nineteen season stands at 130-85 (60.5%). His 130 wins rank 7th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Raines' teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won two region championships.

       The Morgan Academy Senators will play in Class AAA region one during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Senators remain in AAA but move from region two over to region one. Morgan Academy will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Senators will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season.

       The Senators open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Patrician Academy on Friday, August 26 at Morgan Field. Last year the Patrician Academy Saints finished with an overall record of 8-3 and in third place in Class AA region two. The Saints lost in the semi-finals round of the Class AA playoffs to Autauga Academy by a score of 53-20.

       Morgan Academy and Patrician Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Senators have a 2-5-0 record against the Saints. They last met in 2021 with Patrician Academy winning by a score of 33-14.

       Morgan Academy returns AISA All-State Senior running back John Allen Ingram. He was named to the second team last season.
