Fort Dale Academy finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. The Eagles would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Fort Dale Academy has gone a combined 62-69. Their 47.3% winning percentage ranks 7th in Class AAA over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Fort Dale Academy has managed to compile a record of 161-119. Their 58.0% winning percentage ranks 5th in Class AAA and 12th in the AISA. The Eagles are led by head coach Eric Folmar who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 2-8 record in his first season at Fort Dale Academy. The Eagles saw improvement from a 1-9 record the season before coach Folmar arrived. The Eagles have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Folmar. This season, the Eagles will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region one. The Eagles open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Hooper Academy on Thursday, August 25 at Fort Dale Stadium. Last year the Hooper Academy Colts finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in fifth place in Class AAA region one. The Colts ended last season on a positive note with a win over Cornerstone Christian by a score of 41-6 after failing to gain a playoff spot. Fort Dale Academy and Hooper Academy have met a total of 33 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 20-13-0 record against the Colts. They last met in 2021 with Fort Dale Academy winning by a score of 54-35. Fort Dale Academy returns AISA All-State Junior kicker Alan Alvarez. He was named to the first team last season.
