2022 Preview | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Wilson finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Wilson finished eighth in Class 4A region eight with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Wilson averaged scoring just 8.8 points a game. The Warriors would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 2-18 record. Since 2010, Wilson has gone a combined 54-69. Their 43.9% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Wilson has managed to compile a record of 107-150. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 42nd in Class 4A and 273rd in the AHSAA. The Warriors are led by head coach Matt Poarch who is entering his fifth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 7-31 over the past four seasons at Wilson. The Warriors have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Poarch. Coach Poarch's overall record as a head football coach in four season stands at 7-31 (18.4%). The Wilson Warriors will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Warriors remain in 4A but move from region eight over to region seven. The Warriors enter the 2022 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Warriors will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven. The Warriors open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Hatton on Friday, August 19 at Hatton Field. Last year the Hatton Hornets finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in fourth place in Class 2A region eight. The Hornets lost in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs to Spring Garden by a score of 55-20. Wilson and Hatton have met a total of 15 times on the football field. The Warriors have a 3-12-0 record against the Hornets. They last met in 2015 with Wilson winning by a score of 35-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
