 2022 Preview 


       Ranburne completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 2A region four, the Bulldogs earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Ranburne's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Elba by a score of 55-28.

       Since 2010, Ranburne has gone a combined 83-51. Their 61.9% winning percentage ranks 12th in Class 2A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Ranburne has managed to compile a record of 147-119. Their 55.0% winning percentage ranks 13th in Class 2A and 141st in the AHSAA.




       The Bulldogs are led by head coach Stephen Bailey who is entering his seventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 36-31 over the past six seasons at Ranburne. Under his direction the Bulldogs have qualified for the playoffs a total of four times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Bailey.

       Coach Bailey's overall record as a head football coach in six season stands at 36-31 (53.7%).

       The Ranburne Bulldogs will play in Class 2A region four during the 2022 season.

       The Bulldogs will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season.

       The Bulldogs open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent White Plains on Friday, August 19 at Robertson Field. Last year the White Plains Wildcats finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in seventh place in Class 4A region four. The Wildcats ended last season on a positive note with a win over Pleasant Valley by a score of 27-6 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Ranburne and White Plains have met a total of 26 times on the football field. The Bulldogs have a 21-5-0 record against the Wildcats. They last met in 2021 with Ranburne winning by a score of 28-26.

       Ranburne returns 2A All-State Senior defensive lineman Carson Hall. He was named to the second team last season. The Bulldogs also return sophomore quarterback Shaun Swofford. He was named to the honorable mention team.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
