 2022 Preview 


       Patrician Academy completed the 2021 season with a 8-3 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AA region two, the Saints earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Last year Patrician Academy reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Autauga Academy team by the score of 53-20.

       Since 2010, Patrician Academy has gone a combined 88-52. Their 62.9% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AA over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Patrician Academy has managed to compile a record of 182-104. Their 64.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class AA and 6th in the AISA.




       The Saints are led by head coach Jonathan Lindsey who is entering his eleventh season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 70-46 over the past ten seasons at Patrician Academy. Under his direction the Saints have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Lindsey. Coach Lindsey led to a state championship in 2017.

       Coach Lindsey's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 70-46 (60.3%).

       The Patrician Academy Saints will play in Class AA region two during the 2022 season.

       The Saints enter the 2022 season riding a 6 game regular season winning streak.

       The Saints should be in contention for a playoff spot in region two this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. They have reached the playoffs every year since 2001 and will once again be in the hunt for a spot in 2022.

       The Saints open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Morgan Academy on Friday, August 26 at Morgan Field. Last year the Morgan Academy Senators finished with an overall record of 5-6 and in second place in Class AAA region two. The Senators lost in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs to Glenwood School by a score of 54-41.

       Patrician Academy and Morgan Academy have met a total of 7 times on the football field. The Saints have a 5-2-0 record against the Senators. They last met in 2021 with Patrician Academy winning by a score of 33-14.

       Patrician Academy returns AISA All-State Senior linebacker Clark Ezell. He was named to the second team last season. The Saints also return Senior offensive lineman Jack Gibson. He was named to the first team. The Saints also return Junior defensive lineman Jay Lindsey. He was named to the second team. The Saints also return Senior defensive back Tate Boykin. He was named to the first team.

The first night game played between high school teams in the state occurred on September 23, 1927 when Pike Road and Cloverdale met in the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
