 2022 Preview 


       Glenwood School completed the 2021 season with a 6-5 record. With their 2-2 region record and a third place finish in Class AAA region one, the Gators earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. Last year Glenwood School reached the semi-finals before falling to a very good Pike Liberal Arts team by the score of 29-6.

       Since 2010, Glenwood School has gone a combined 77-62. Their 55.4% winning percentage ranks 4th in Class AAA over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Glenwood School has managed to compile a record of 151-127. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AAA and 16th in the AISA.




       The Gators will be under the direction of new head football coach Ryan Nelson as they enter the 2022 season.  

       The Glenwood School Gators will play in Class AAA region one during the 2022 season. Glenwood School will face six opponents that reached the playoffs last season.

       The Gators will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region one this season. They have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2013 and are hopeful to continue that streak in 2022.

       The Gators open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Pacelli GA on Friday, August 19.

       Glenwood School and Pacelli GA have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Gators have a 1-1-0 record against Pacelli GA. They last met in with

       Glenwood School returns AISA All-State Senior athlete AJ Harris. He was named to the first team last season.

The first football game played by a high school team in Alabama was in 1892 when Central Birmingham (Phillips) lost to Alabama 56-0 on November 11.
