 2022 Preview 


       Glencoe finished the 2021 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Glencoe finished sixth in Class 3A region five with a 1-6 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Glencoe averaged scoring just 10.7 points a game. The Yellow Jackets also struggled on the defensive side of the football as they found little success in stopping opposing offenses and allowed an average of 39.5 points a game.

       The Yellow Jackets would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Glencoe has gone a combined 64-68. Their 48.5% winning percentage ranks 35th in Class 3A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Glencoe has managed to compile a record of 132-135. Their 49.0% winning percentage ranks 34th in Class 3A and 202nd in the AHSAA.




       The Yellow Jackets will be under the direction of new head football coach Scott Martin as they enter the 2022 season.  Coach Martin was the head football coach at Ohatchee last season.

       Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 83-42 (66.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach Martin's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of nine times and won two region championships.

       The Glencoe Yellow Jackets will play in Class 3A region six during the 2022 season. Following realignment, the Yellow Jackets remain in 3A but move from region five over to region six.

       This season, the Yellow Jackets will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region six.

       The Yellow Jackets open the 2022 season on the road against non-region opponent Weaver on Friday, August 26 at Bill Bryan Stadium. Last year the Weaver Bearcats finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in sixth place in Class 3A region five. The Bearcats closed out the regular season with a loss to Ashville by a score of 33-6.

       Glencoe and Weaver have met a total of 39 times on the football field. The Yellow Jackets have a 22-17-0 record against the Bearcats. They last met in 2021 with Weaver winning by a score of 20-7.

In 1925 Langdale tied a record by defeating Milltown 125-0. Hamilton had set the record by thrashing Fayette 125-0 in 1915.
